About Boy Scout Troop 69
Boys Scout Troop 69, Palatine, Illinois, was chartered in October 1950, and has been sponsored by American Legion Post 690 in Palatine for over 55 years.

Troop Composition
The troop presently consists of about 25 Scouts ranging from sixth graders up to high school seniors. The Scouts that make up the troop come from different schools and represent many different nationalities, races, and religious backgrounds.

Troop Philosophy
Our main goals are to train Scouts in leadership skills, foster responsibility to others, and to have fun. We accomplish these goals through Scouting and camping activities. Advancement is an important part of our program, and is geared to the individual Scout.

A Scout-Run Troop
Troop 69 is a "Scout-run Troop." The Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) is the Scout leadership of the troop that plans and conducts meetings and activities under the Scoutmaster's supervision. The PLC plans weekly troop meetings, some campouts, and our annual summer camp.

Our troop annually sends several scouts to TLD (Troop Leadership Development) training. The American Legion Post 690 generously underwrites this training. Many scouts earn their TLD arrowhead by showing leadership in our troop.

Troop 69 Standard of Conduct
BSA Troop 69 strives to teach scouts to live by the principles outlined in the BSA's Scout Oath and Scout Law. Scouting should be fun and challenging. Scouts deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to have fun and grow without unnecessary roughness, physical and verbal intimidation, foul and offensive l anguage, or disrespectful behavior. All scouts should help build troop unity and an effective, enjoyable scouting program.
